We sat down with Janet for a quick chat about her studies

Tell us a little about yourself

I am Janet, a stay at home mum. A friend invited me to work in her dog grooming salon and recommended study first. I enrolled with The Career Academy and I do work experience every Tuesday at her salon in WA.

How did you hear about The Career Academy

I searched for dog grooming courses on Google and a training site linked me to The Career Academy.

What course are you studying

Advanced Certificate in Dog Grooming. I am on my last certificate now. It is a great course, very informative, and I am learning a lot.

How has the course helped with work

It has helped me understand the industry and expand my knowledge of dog breeds, coats, and skin conditions. I am learning what to do and what not to do when working closely with dogs. Every dog is different and that can be a challenge.

Your biggest achievement so far

Finding a career I am passionate about. Moving from a pathology office to working with dogs feels right.

What do you hope to achieve after study

Become a more experienced groomer. I plan to join my friend’s business as an employee and help expand by offering mobile grooming.

What do you do in your downtime

I am a parent to a cheeky three year old daughter, so not a lot of downtime. I am a big fan of anime and fit in an episode when I can.
