This course will provide an introduction to the scope and nature of event management, including but not limited to the various tasks that are involved in event management and the impact and social importance of a variety of different types of events.

This course will provide an introduction to the process of developing concepts for different types of events, including but not limited to how a range of different types of events are initiated and planned, how an event can create an emotional relationship with spectators and participants, the benefits of event sponsorship and how to develop a plan for an event.

This course will provide an overview of the physical and human resources needed for different types of events, including but not limited to how to employ and motivate volunteers, how to form and manage a team and the important factors to consider when choosing a location and creating a user-friendly site.

This course will provide an introduction to logistics management and how this relates to the organisation of an event, including but not limited to the definition of project logistics and how to apply it in event management, the legal and insurance implications of staging an event and how to determine how physical and human resources will be organised in preparation for staging an event.

This course will provide an introduction to event marketing and will include but not be limited to how to formulate a business plan, marketing plan and publicity campaign, and the benefits of event sponsorship.

This course will take a look at financial planning for events and the importance of cash flow when managing events. It will include but not be limited to how to develop a financial plan for an event, a look at financial terminology and how to set ticket prices and explore strategies for increasing ticket sales to improve cash flow.

This course will provide an overview of the legal and ethical responsibilities of event managers and facility owners, and will include but not be limited to how to reduce risk and liability at events through systems analysis, plans and control, the purpose of a contract and the licenses and permits required to run an event.

This course will provide an introduction to all aspects of staging an event, including but not limited to the way in which facilities and services are managed during the delivery of an event, how to compile relevant documents for the staging of an event, the process of choosing a venue and the benefits of hiring catering, performers and hospitality services for an event.

This course will provide an introduction to the components of post-event activities, including but not limited to the importance of post-event evaluation, how to create an evaluation report and how to measure the success of an event.

This course will provide an introduction to the different types of ceremonies in various cultures and the basic laws regarding weddings. It will include but not be limited to how the type of religion influences the wedding ceremony, the basic legal requirements to hold a wedding and the advantages and disadvantages of various types of wedding receptions.

This course will take a look at the initial wedding planning considerations, including but not limited to key tasks that need to be completed or considered six months before the wedding, three months before and close to the wedding date, wedding themes and key considerations of wedding venues.

This course will provide an introduction on how to handle conflict in a group, and the roles of different members of the bridal party. It will include but not be limited to identifying the key people in a wedding party and how to help deal with stress and anger.

This course will provide an introduction to selecting and managing the use of appropriate locations for a wedding, including but not limited to key factors when considering a location for a wedding, associated costs and how to create a table plan.

This course will take a look at developing a timetable of activities and events for a wedding and how to manage time constraints associated with it. It will include but not be limited to wedding locations and customs and how to create a timeline for a wedding day.

This course will provide an introduction to suppliers and key aspects of choosing them for a wedding, including but not limited to identifying key suppliers associated with weddings and different ways of selecting a wedding gown.

This course will take a look at how to improve communication with clients and assist them in achieving their desired outcome, and will include but not be limited to how to write a draft contract for wedding service providers, the concepts of a two-way conversation and examples of questions to ask a prospective client.

This course will provide an introduction to managing a wedding day and planning for all foreseeable and significant contingencies. It will include but not be limited to creating a timetable for a wedding day, how to handle the cancellation of a wedding and items a wedding planner would have at a wedding.

This course will provide an overview of ways of establishing and running a viable wedding planning service, including but not limited to how to identify a target market for a business, factors to consider when setting up a business and ways of advertising a business.

This course will take a look at ways of identifying weaknesses and how to keep track of income and expenditures using basic accounting methods, including but not limited to how to write a simple business statement and identify basic bookkeeping records.
