Certificate in Management Fundamentals Course Guide

This course will provide an introduction to the role of managers in an organisation and effective communication methods. It will include but not be limited to the key attributes effective managers in different roles should possess, how to prepare a formal, professionally written report, and how to undertake professional communication internal and external to the workplace.

This course will provide an overview of management theories and procedures, including but not limited to the different schools of thought in management studies and types of written orders used when implementing change.

This course will provide an introduction to different types of problem-solving techniques, including but not limited to potential management issues and identifying problem-solving techniques, when workers should be involved in organisational decision making, and a look at supervisory scenarios and duties.

This course will take a look at how external influences can affect management styles, including but not limited to how supervisors can affect employee attitudes and factors that may limit management ability.

This course will provide an introduction to key concepts in advertising for and interviewing potential employees, including but not limited to the necessary components of a job advertisement, how to create a job advertisement using key legislation and key concepts and how to develop interview questions.

This course will provide an introduction to workplace procedures and how to create and implement basic guidelines. It will include but not be limited to how to write a workplace procedure, the steps required to deal with a grievance, workplace safety checklists and how to write a job description for a supervisor role.

This course will provide an introduction to equity, ethics and morality and how they affect the workplace, including but not limited to how to write a code of practice for an organisation, the importance of intellectual property rights in regards to maintaining ethical and equitable practices within an organisation, and key legal considerations specific to workplaces.
